Program

Air Barriers
Air barrier systems for exterior walls are gaining acceptance in codes and popularity in the construction market. Properly installed air barriers on masonry walls can significantly reduce building energy consumption and moisture related problems due to condensation. This session will outline the differences between an air barrier, vapor barrier and water-resistive barrier.

Masonry Movement Joints
This presentation addresses the movement characteristics of vertical masonry wall systems. Focus is on best practice for design and construction of expansion and control joints to accommodate and/or restrict masonry material movement. It does not address sealant or backer rod selection.
