Join IMI for a workshop on moisture management in masonry buildings focusing on proper flashing installation. Earn 3 AIA HSWs during this free workshop with hands-on building opportunities. 
 
You'll learn flashing strategies for critical locations like inside and outside corners and the base of the wall. Plus, try your hand at laying brick and block with the help of skilled masons and instructors from the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 1. Wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty and closed-toe shoes.

• Understand how to design a resilient and durable flashing system to minimize life cycle costs.
• Explain the performance criteria used to specify through­wall flashings and transition membranes.
• Define the attributes of a variety of membrane materials.
• Understand the compatibility between cavity wall components.

Before joining IMI, he worked for a variety of architecture firms in Oregon and Washington. In addition to project design and construction administration, he has served in project management and BIM leadership roles.

Louis Barnett has over six years of flashings technical and field experience. Prior to working in building materials, Louis practiced both public and private law in Colorado. He is eager to be a masonry resource for local architectural firms.
